While Jake is not at his most eloquent here, his teasing the poor-man's Elvis impersonator resulted in a spectacularly-forceful guitar shot to the head. It turned into a bit of an old-school groaner, with Honky Tonk flippin' and floppin', then stealing the win by using the ropes. It was only fair, after Steamboat's big win prior. But the fans didn't go away disappointed, as the heel took off and Alice cornered Jimmy Hart with the snake. I like to think that Jake enjoyed the moment in front of over 90,000 people. Jake "The Snake" Roberts had made it to the big time, and everyone loved him. In a sad coincidence, they say Jake was meant to win the Intercontinental Championship from the Honky Tonk Man later that year, but was considered unable to defend it well enough because of his neck injury €“ sustained from that guitar shot to the head. But sometimes, what looks like bad news can turn out to be a blessing in disguise. For in my opinion, Jake's best feud may not have happened if he'd won that belt.
