WWE: 10 Ways Cody Rhodes Can Go Forward As Stardust

10. Drop The Gimmick

This one goes out to everyone who thinks that "Stardust" is stupid. You may have a point. Cody Rhodes can best be described as what would happen if a soap opera actor became a professional wrestler. He's a handsome guy in impeccable condition who wears suits well and knows how to play a role rather well. Of course, every single other time that "impossibly handsome and chiseled man in suit" has been done in pro wrestling, it's been done portraying the man as either an aloof ladies man or buffoon, As much as Cody Rhodes should be allowed to be himself, it can be argued that every time "himself" has ever been done, it's basically been "The Model" Rick Martel, or worse. Does re-packaging Cody Rhodes as "Stardust" give him a fresh opportunity? Sure. But he's also still Cody Rhodes, albeit Cody Rhodes in a costume. Cody leaving for one week and suddenly becoming a whole other character with new moves and motivations is pretty silly, and almost magical. Remember when Memphis territory stalwart The Spellbider came to the WWF as magician-turned-wrestler Phantasio in 1995? Of course you don't. Forcing the WWE Universe to make a magical leap of faith and get behind Cody Rhodes play-acting as Goldust may be taking the suspension of disbelief required to be a pro wrestling fan just a bit too far.
