Over the years, a lot of wrestlers have adopted nicknames. Bret Hart called himself “The Excellence of Execution”. The Rock calls himself “The Great One”. Rob Van Dam is “The Whole F’n Show”.
In June of 2011, CM Punk proclaimed himself “The Best In The World”. In the year and a half since then, he has gone on to prove that again and again. But for any doubters, here are four reasons why CM Punk truly is The Best In The World.
4. In Ring Abilities
CM Punk is one of the most talented superstars to ever grace the WWE ring. He can work just about any style from high flying to brawling to technical. Every time he sets foot in the ring, he delivers no matter who is across the ring from him (except The Great Khali because no one can have a great match with Khali). He devastates opponents with his powerful kicks, knees and backhand chops. He can make anyone tap out to the Anaconda Vice or knock them out with the Go To Sleep.

I’ll agree with the in ring abilities, but there are people who are just better than him like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. As far as I know he’s never beat AJ in the Indies. He cant make the Undertaker tap out.
I highly doubt he’s never smoked, drunk, or did drugs as a teen based on what he says in his dvd. The way he insist he’s straight edge just says he’s not
Title Reign is scripted So obviously that doesn’t count toward Sh!t.
The Pipe Bomb they told him to go out and vent so I’m 50/50 on it.
I wouldnt say he’s the best in the world, just in the company.
I highly doubt that even punk thinks he’s the absolute best in the world because he is not. Im a massive fan of his but i would never say he’s the best at anything apart from maybe promo work.
In-ring is a difficult one to call seeing as, as you say, he can pull a match out of absolutely anyone. Is he a gifted athelete? no but that doesnt matter. Can anyone say that Triple H or Stone COld are athletes? course not but they put on some of the best matches in recent memory.
Aj Styles and Samoa Joe are excellent at the technical wrestling wrestling aspects of the business but i would argue neither have put on a match quite like the one Punk dragged Cena threw at Money in The Bank 2011. Theres more to wrestling than awesome moves and crazy bumps. I beleive that all of AJ’s best matches have come up against guys like Kurt Angle who will most definately have carried the majority of the match.
