4. Paul London and Spanky
Time for a little more background on me. Around 1999 everyone's favorite undead zombie character The Undertaker had taken a dark and twisted turn during the Ministry of Darkness storyline. This included crucifying the boss's daughter and drinking blood. While I'm all in favor of wrestling and its wackiness, as a devout Christian this storyline completely turned me off from watching wrestling. In fact, it would be 2004 before I would watch wrestling again. The exact path is a story for another day, but in the course of my return to pro wrestling I stumbled upon Ring of Honor, and after ordering some random DVDs from them, I witnessed Paul London and Michael Shane in a street fight, which included some of the craziest ladder spots I've ever seen. I also came across a man named Spanky. My first thought was of course, "what in the world kind of name is Spanky?" However, after seeing him in the ring I really didn't care what his name was, I just wanted to watch him wrestle. So it was delight when I saw them teaming together in WWE. However, once again I feel WWE didn't even begin to reach the potential they could have with this awesome tag team. However, they are two Cruiserweight size guys in a land of giants, and we know that the midcard tends to wallow in WWE anyway, so the team never really reached what I thought could be their fullest potential. I mean, look at those two. They ooze charisma even in this still photo! Come on wrestling promoters, why are London and Spanky not still on my tv?
