WWE: 6 Current Superstars Who Are (Almost) Hall Of Famers

The WWE Hall of Fame is one of those things where wrestling fans like to argue about who is worthy of being in, why isn't a particular person in there and how a guy like Koko B Ware got in when he barely won matches throughout his career. Huge names like from decades ago like Lou Thesz aren't in while a more modern top guy like Randy Savage is the biggest name that's not in there. It's not like there's a committee that votes on it like the baseball, football, basketball or any respectable Hall of Fame. They choose who gets to go in based on who Vince McMahon and friends want to induct that year. Remember when WWE ignored the Hall of Fame? From 1993 to 1996, WWE inducted 22 people into the Hall of Fame with Andre the Giant as the biggest one of them all. Then it was completely ignored from 1997 to 2003. In 2004 they brought it back at WrestleMania 20 weekend and to their credit they have kept the tradition going for ten years straight. Most Hall of Fame classes follow a similar formula. They try to have at least one big name headliner as the "main event" of the group. Last year had Bruno Sammartino (Mick Foley could have fit the billing too), this year has the Ultimate Warrior and next year might have The Rock. They also try to have at least one woman inductee (Lita this year) and one person to induct posthumously (Paul Bearer this year). The group is rounded out by another three or four men that sometimes are part of a family or a tag team. What we're here to look at today are the credentials of current WWE performers who are over 40 years of age that are near retirement as active in-ring competitors. We'll act as though the Hall of Fame is actually a legit thing and discuss whether or not they are worthy of being in. It's going to be about more than six people, so I apologize for the misleading title. You'll see why when we get to them.
