WWE Boosted AEW Interest On Google During Raw
Rival promotion was trending on search engine during WWE's flagship show.
The events of this weekend will have proved hard to swallow for executives in Stamford. Not only was AEW's debut show, Double or Nothing, an absolutely unbridled critical success, but it also moved the needle of interest significantly on both social media and search engines.
Cody and co's inaugural PPV eclipsed Google impressions for a typical WWE show outside of WrestleMania season, and the company's name was once again at the tip of everybody's fingers last - during Monday Night Raw, no less.
During the the red brand's primetime hours, searches for 'AEW' climaxed at around 100,000, with those interested in the nascent wrestling promotion primarily hailing from the USA, UK and, oddly, Bolivia.
It's great news for WWE that thousands of people are interested in wrestling during their main show - it's just a shame it's not their product.
Other wrestling terms making waves on Google last night included Sam Fatu - Roman Reigns' cousin who took on Shane McMahon at the top of the show - and Sami Zayn, who name dropped AEW during his promo. An AEW chant also rang out during the aforementioned match.
Who would have thunk WWE would one day miss people chanting "CM Punk"?
