It seemed as if free from the pressure of main eventing Wrestlemania Rock and Austin could truly express themselves and as a result had the best match of their feud containing frenetic brawling and some very inventive and sometimes ridiculous ideas including the famous video camera sequence that i won't spoil for you if you haven't seen it yet. This match represented the best of the Attitude Era with its grown up themes and hard edged brawling and is a worthy addition to anyone's favourite match collection.
7. The Rock vs Mankind - Royal Rumble 1999

His 'I Quit' match with Mankind at the 1999 Royal Rumble is a case study in how to develop a sadistic heel. One of the most brutal matches ever constructed in the WWE it still packs an emotional punch today and is definitely not for the faint of heart. Foley, like Austin, was able to bring something out of the Rock that enabled him to find a higher level of performance and deliver a match of exceptional quality. The somewhat ridiculous ending notwithstanding this is a stunning match that everyone should see at least once.
