After being repeatedly referenced on WWE shows for the past few weeks, a brand spanking new set of Women's Tag Team Championship belts were unveiled on last night's episode of Monday Night Raw.

Alexa Bliss revealed the shiny new straps during her 'A Moment of Bliss' talk show, before declaring that their inaugural champion would be determined within the evil eponymous structure at Elimination Chamber on 17 February.

We don't yet know which teams will contest for the titles, though do know the battle for the belts will feature three teams from Raw and three teams from SmackDown. Whether the championship will then become solely branded or float between the two shows after this point, is also as yet unknown.

WWE's last set of Women's Tag Team Titles were mothballed on 14 February 1989 - almost precisely 30 years to the day the new ones will be up for grabs. The Glamour Girls - Leilani Kai and Judy Martin - were the final holders of the belts, claiming them from the spectacular Jumping Bomb Angels during a show in Saitama, Japan - by countout, oddly enough. The 2019 version of the championship will not continue the lineage of the deactivated ones.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
