Social media can have a tendency to bring out the worse in people. With John Cena, the case is just that. In almost any wrestling video you will ever see on YouTube, there will always be that one person that has something negative to say about Cena. People grew tired of seeing Cena on TV every week, and grew tired of seeing Cena win every week. And because of the negative feedback, the WWE has given Cena less and less TV time each week. We have not seen Cena in the title picture in about a year. And the only major win he has had, as of this writing, was against Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules.
In short, social media can be an amazing way to reach fans, and to become even more popular. It is also a great way to become more interactive, and giving the fans what they want to see. Right now we see the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes getting a well-deserved due to the positive feedback. But because of the negative feedback, we see the likes of Big Show and Sin Cara being held back since they have not held a title in a long while.
