With WWE ever eager to snap up the trademark to superstars’ name, now comes news of the company’s most recent trademark applications.

Just last week – September 4th and September 6th, to be precise – WWE filed the trademarks for NXT talents “The Forgotten Sons”, “Marina Shafir”, “Jessamyn Duke”, “Taynara”, “Vanessa Borne”, “Xia Li” and “Dakota Kai”.

Additionally, WWE also accidentally filed for “Lo Shirai” – which is clearly a typo for NXT standout Io Shirai.

Given that the NXT brand is due for an imminent expansion as the brand begins its two-hour live weekly TV show next Wednesday, it only makes sense that WWE would look to tie-up the trademarks to any of the talents who could end up competing on the impending weekly USA Network show.

At this time, that September 18th USA debut is set to feature NXT Tag Team Champions Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish defending the gold against The Street Profits, NXT North American Champion The Velveteen Dream will put his title on the line against Roderick Strong, Matt Riddle will battle Killian Dain in a Street Fight, and Io Shirai, Bianca Belair, Mia Yim and Candice LeRae will partake in a Fatal 4 Way contest to determine the #1 contender for Shayna Baszler’s NXT Women’s Championship.
