WWE Hires Arda Ocal As Broadcaster Kyle Edwards

WWE adds a Canadian TV personality to its group of announcers.

It was announced on Wednesday by Canadian broadcaster Arda Ocal that he has been hired by WWE as a broadcaster that will be using the name Kyle Edwards. As we all know, WWE loves to rename their on-air talent when they hire them, so it's no surprise that they would give Ocal a new name. We're not sure where the name came from, but perhaps it was a combination of NASCAR drivers Kyle Petty and Carl Edwards although it could be totally random. The news was broken by Ocal in a tweet he sent out on Wednesday where he said: "To quote @TheRock, "Finally...." I'm beyond thrilled to join @WWE as a broadcaster. Dreams do come true... " https://twitter.com/KyleEdwardsWWE/status/514836315154948097 Ocal worked for The Score Television Network, which has been renamed Sportsnet 360. That's the television network here in Canada that airs Raw, Smackdown, Main Event and a highlight show on weekends called WWE Experience as well. Ocal also created the wrestling talk program Aftermath, which would air after wrestling broadcasts on The Score and it's still on these days on Fridays at 10pmET after Smackdown. Ocal became one of the three main commentators on the show along with former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas and Renee Paquette, who now works for WWE as Renee Young. That show has proven to be a great springboard for both Renee and Arda. In addition to his television experience, Ocal also hosted a radio program called Right After Wrestling that aired after Raw with Korderas as his main co-host. He has also interviewed plenty of WWE personalities since The Score was affiliated with WWE. Ocal also has experience working in MMA and boxing, so he's a guy familiar with a lot of combat sports. It's expected that he'll likely start doing studio work like most WWE hires and work his way up from there. On a personal note, I know Arda pretty well. We've talked quite a bit over the years and I actually worked closely with him when he was helping to run the LayfieldReport website for John Layfield and Michael Cole. He's a lifelong wrestling fan that's a talented broadcaster that will do great at his job. We want to see fans of the business getting hired because that's good for WWE to have people working for them that like the product. You can follow Arda on his new Kyle Edwards Twitter handle @KyleEdwardsWWE. All the best to him in his new career in WWE.
