WWE In Eric Bischoff E-Mail "Screw-Up", Not Scheduled For SmackDown

'Easy E' advertised for Tuesday's show in error.

WWE's PR department dropped a major snafu over the last 24 hours, blasting journos on their mailing list with an e-mail advertising Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as the big attractions on this week's Raw and SmackDown respectively.

There was just one problem: whilst Brock Lesnar's advocate is in regular attendance on the red brand anyway, 'Easy E' was absolutely not scheduled to appear in San Antonio for SmackDown on Tuesday.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer described the missive as a "screw up", noting that the original plan was to promote the show's fresh start, rather than the ex-WCW head specifically.

Now one poor WWE staffer has voluntarily let an entirely fictional cat out of the bag, Meltzer suggested Vince McMahon may hastily arrange for Bischoff to appear, given that's what the company have advertised.

A new beginning for SmackDown which commences with an accidental bait-and-switch is not ideal. In any event, we won't know for certain whether Bischoff is set for a dramatic and unplanned return to WWE television until it does - or does not - happen midweek.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
