WWE Interested In Signing Jeff Hardy Despite Drug Record?

Could Jeff Hardy be on his way home to WWE?

WWE don't usually sign wrestlers with drug convictions, but they might apply a different set of rules to Jeff Hardy, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The talented high flyer was once the most popular wrestler in WWE, meaning that he has strong brand worth to the company. Hardy has felony drug convictions to his name, which would stop him from working on WWE international tours. But WWE could still get more than their moneys worth by promoting him in North America. Hardy was a massive star and merchandise seller when with WWE. He was the real talent in the Attitude Era's Hardy Boyz tag team, going on to sell a range of Team Xtreme merchandise. His biggest popularity came in 2009 when he was pushed as a singles star, winning the WWE and World titles in that period. There was no doubt about it, Jeff was the company franchise star - possibly even ahead of John Cena at certain points. Unfortunately, Jeff couldn't control his drug problems, resulting in his departure from the company. He went on to work for TNA and eventually got himself clean. With TNA now possibly going out of business, and with Hardy a sober man, it will be interesting to see if WWE make an offer to bring him back. On Jeff's part, he's willing to do business. He has commented that he watches Raw and he misses it. He would like to end his career back in the WWE. The drug felonies and his previous two wellness policy strikes count against him, but WWE will apply a different set of rules given Hardy's franchise worth.
