WWE: Looking At "The Lionhearts and Manes" Editions Of Main Event And NXT

WWE NXT Logo This week's editions of the Main Event and NXT had solid moments that everyone should check out. From hair-raising contests to family affairs this week's WWE two-hour team up really worked well. Let's begin with the Main Event... The show, which emanated from Detroit began with a great promo from Antonio Césaro complete with a very European beret and sunglasses. This I hope is a change for the better when it comes to the Swiss Superman. There was no yodeling craziness of any kind. Only great action from from he in the United States champion and new father Kofi Kingston. That is perhaps one of the best matches I've seen either man have in quite some time. Now I hope WWE was listening to that as the crowd reacted to both men even though they have not been booked as effective characters in the eyes of most fans. Take this and run creative team and rebuild a strong mid-card again. In the end, Kingston gets the victory. But here's the thing when a match is good at both guys are book strong it doesn't matter who wins and who loses. It actually helps both men coming out of it. They played up the Kofi is a new father thing and I understand why to make him sympathetic. I guess you'd the new family man a.k.a. Ricky Steamboat character and that suits him. As does the very reminiscent Rick Martel model gimmick suit Antonio's personality. Cesaro attacking Kofi backstage and ripping it out of piece of his dreadlocks was great and gave the feud a little bit more teeth to it. As soon as I saw that I had flashbacks strangely enough of the Rick Martel- Tatanka in 1992 in which the purveyor of arrogance stole the special feathers of the Native American. Now I don't expect Antonio will use this like trophy but it would be cut a cool if they did. Let's make him a heel for doing something dastardly not for something annoying which seems to be the course that the company seems to take. We see a video package detailing the with the injury of John Cena telling that things are out of the woods quite yet. And the final match of the night has former tag team champions Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater battle it out. This match was not bad. Although it wasn't worth talking about. Considering what we just saw, it didn't have any thing special except for the 450. Now, let's head on down to NXT this week. This weeks show was very interesting not for just the matches, but for the commentary team as well as. William Regal and Brad Maddox were were comedy gold, and had some great back-and-forth during the night. All that said the action begins with a triple threat elimination tag team match as the Wyatt family battles Adrian Neville and his partner Bo Dallas and Primo and Epico. I bet you can guess who gets eliminated first. In the end, the match was solid as Luke Harper and Eric Rowan pick up the victory against the tag team champion . It was announced later on in the night that Adrian Neville will defend the tag team titles alongside his surrogate tag team partner Bo Dallas against the Wyatt family's Eric Rowan and Luke Harper next week. We see a very nice video package detailing the feud of page and the new dance partner for Fandango, Summer Rae. The two women then battle it out in perhaps one of the least technical women's matches I've seen in a while. Paige and Summer went back-and-forth rolling around, using the ropes for slingshots before actually getting down and wrestling a bit. Complete with that awesome Indian Death Lock from Rae and a really crappy Paige Turner for the win from the anti-diva. The feud appears to be over with Summer. I wonder who's going to be next for the divas feud? The main event which saw Chris Jericho battle Bray Wyatt was honestly good but a little underwhelming. I think I fell into the trap of overhype on Twitter. Not saying it was a bad match because Jericho and Bray had a contest and they used his family members effectively well getting the advantage for their leader. Although I don't understand how the referee during the match would eject one member and not the other that really didn't make any sense. All that aside, it was a good match. Some may argue Bray Wyatt should have gotten the victory. And I can't say I disagree with that. But that's the WWE philosophy let everybody go home happy. If you time this week, check out Kofi and Antonio from the Main Event and NXT if not for the commentary than the final two matches which were pretty fun.
