WWE: Looking At The "Where Are My Peeps and Gamecocks" Editions Main Event And NXT

wwe main event This week both WWE Main Event and NXT had quite an interesting showing featuring former champions in action. From the Peeps and Jericholics to the Emmalation of true Bolievers, all fan bases were well represented for the most part. But let's not get too ahead of ourselves, how about we begin with this week's Main Event from Gamecock country North Charleston, South Carolina. We open this weeks episode back with a two-man booth as the Miz and Josh Matthews welcome us the show. Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring for his Wednesday night debut against last week's color commentator extraordinaire Cody Rhodes. Overall, a really good back and forth match as to be expected. Unfortunately, it wasn't in the booking sheet for Cody Rhodes this week as he takes a loss in the Walls of Jericho. I don't mind that Cody loses to Jericho as it sets up in a positive position for Ryback in Philadelphia at the pay-per-view. What I do have a problem with is that Jericho kicked out of all of Rhodes finishing maneuvers makes him look weak in comparison. It wasn't necessary to do that, for the story they wanted to tell. After we come back from commercial, we have another debut as Captain Charisma Christian makes his way to the ring to battle US Champion Dean Ambrose of The Shield. This of course spurs off of this past Friday when The Shield attacked the former World Heavyweight Champion after a match. This time all three of the Hounds of Justice waste little time interfering in the match right when things were starting to look into the favor Christian. This brings out the number one contenders for the tag titles the Usos coming to his rescue of Christian setting up a six man tag or Friday on Smackdown Next up, we get a promo from Zeb Colter and Antonio Cesaro. .Zeb gets some cheap heat by making fun of the Gamecock mascot. Then the Real American goes into his complaints looking at the Dublin Street fight and the Fiesta Del Rio segments this week on Smackdown. Colter rants that English is not the primary language anymore and he wants his country back and Antonio will help. The irony was not lost on me as Antonio speaks five languages. All that said, good little promo from Zeb. That's not all as the bereted Antonio does some talking too. Cesaro says he the American everyone should be, he didn't come over illegally. Zeb says America didn't come to you€ You came to America.. We the people. Good stuff. It will be interesting to see where Jack Swagger fits into this new vision of their America. And finally, we have our last debut of the night as young Jo Jo from the upcoming E! Total Divas reality series sings with Naomi and Cameron to bring Tons of Funk to the ring. This is the first of many crossovers with the new project of WWE. A bad rendition of the new theme song "Do You Want to Get Funky with Me?"is performed. The girl has a voice just the arrangement and background vocals didn't complement her well. I wonder how her wrestling ability is? Speaking of wrestling ability, the Tons of Funk had a match with the Primetime Players. By some dubious tactics, the PTP get the victory making them look stronger heading into Monday's match with CM Punk and Curtis Axel. This is probably an anomaly. I don't think we'll see them win this Monday, but who knows they could win. We now head down to Full Sail University for this week's NXT as William Regal and Tony Dawson welcome us to the show. We are not even five seconds in and we see the return of the former champion Big E Langston returns against Aiden English. Fortunately or unfortunately English a.k.a. The Drama King on Twitter had a big ending as Langston gets the quick victory and a five count. We go backstage as René Young attempts to get word from Emma leading into her NXT Women's Championship tournament match against Aksana. Emma does not into the questions at first and she's playing with a bubble gun. The dancing diva says Emmalation is worldwide and she will win tonight and says that René cannot play with her bubble gun. The match itself was nothing spectacular. In the end, Emma wins by submission with the DilEmma. The first-round is now done as Paige will battle with Alicia Fox and Emma will battle Summer Rae in the Semi Finals. We see the same promo for Leo Kruger that we have to last three weeks but the good news is he's next. Leo Kruger defeats Dante Dash with the GC3 submission after good work on the arm. It shows how great ring psychology is when it's used right for working on a body part.. A promo is shown with Connor O'Brien under a blacklight saying that the Ascension will return . Next, Bo Dallas returns to action on NXT after his championship celebration last week against the newly named Mickey "Axl" Keegan. Regal attempts to get Keegan over by making him a tough guy as a world-renowned nightclub bouncer. However, it doesn't really do anything as the match is relatively short with the NXT champion winning with the sloppiest belly to belly throw I've ever seen. As Dallas celebrates his victory, Leo Kruger comes out and delivers a hammerlock throw to a recovering Mickey Keegan. The two have a standoff. So one would reasonably guess we getting that match relatively soon. And in the main event, a great tag team encounter as Corey Graves and Kassius Ohno defeated the team of Garrett Dylan to become the number one contenders for the NXT tag titles. This brings out the current NXT tag champs the Wyatt family who proceed to destroy their new challengers KO and Graves. Adrian Neville comes to the rescue but gets destroyed as well. Then William Regal comes off headset and goes down to the ring to help out against the Wyatt family. However, The Power of the Punch was not enough as the former Goodwill Ambassador is left laying after an avalanche in the corner from Bray Wyatt. Great cliffhanger for next week. Overall, I have to say that Main Event was probably the stronger of the two shows this week. NXT was great for the ending and the tag team match. Everything else this week felt a little subpar but you can definitely tell it was the building week as they seem to have plenty in the pipeline going forward. I would highly suggest you check out Chris Jericho versus Cody Rhodes and the Colter promo from this week's Main Event and the tag team match and aftermath from this weeks NXT.
