WWE: Mr. T To Be Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

Mr. T will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, TMZ.com have announced. It's likely that WWE wanted to create some media attention by announcing the news through TMZ before it aired on TV tonight for tonight's WWE Raw. The rumors of the actor going into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the celebrity wing have been running rampant for months now. While Mr. T has reportedly been asked to go into the Hall of Fame before, he always refused the invitation. It's fitting that he would accept it this year now that Hulk Hogan is back in WWE (and we are sure the added interest from WWE for this anniversary likely led to more money for T). WWE Chairman Vince McMahon spoke to TMZ about Mr. T's Hall of Fame induction: "His WWE appearances were instrumental in helping to establish WrestleMania as the pop-culture phenomenon it is today." Mr. T was a key figure in WrestleMania 1 and a big reason why the show was so successful. If WrestleMania 1 flopped, who knows where WWE would be today? He was a very famous actor at the time of WrestleMania 1 as one of the stars of the A-Team television series. He did well in the match as he teamed up with Hulk Hogan to defeat Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff. They were smart to put him in a tag with Hogan against Piper & Orndorff because he was able to work with veteran performers who could make him look like he belonged. Mr. T's involvement in WrestleMania 2 wasn't nearly as good. The boxing match with Roddy Piper was memorable for the brawl after Piper cheated, but the actual fight they had was pretty boring. While it's not known who will induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame, Hulk Hogan is a safe bet. The two are still friends after all these years and having Hogan on the stage at WrestleMania would be a smart move by WWE considering his history in the company. Others in the WWE Hall of Fame include the Ultimate Warrior, Jake Roberts, Lita, Paul Bearer and Scott Hall is expected to be announced, likely next week. Congrats to Mr. T and all the other members of the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame class.
