WWE NXT Takeover Brooklyn Results

The women steal the show with a fantastic NXT Women's Title match.

WWE held the NXT Takeover Brooklyn event in the Barclays Center in front of a raucous New York crowd that was energetic all night long. The event started shortly after 7:30pmET with matches taped for next week's NXT show and then at 9pmET the live broadcast started on WWE Network. The show was originally scheduled to run for two hours, but it ran late. The main event started at about 10:58pmET and the broadcast went off the air at 11:22pmET, but that's the advantage of airing on WWE Network - they can end it when they want. Here are the results from the show. Triple H did a promo in ring with the lights off and said "We Are NXT" as the lights came on with the crowd going wild. Jushin "Thunder" Liger defeated Tyler Breeze in the opening match. Breeze had an elaborate entrance The crowd was firmly behind the Japanese legend Liger, who won clean with a Ligerbomb. They showed Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean "X-Pac" Waltman sitting in the front row. There was a promo video for a new diva named Nia Jax, who is debuting in NXT soon. The Vaudevillains with Blue Pants (Leva Bates) defeated Blake & Murphy with Alexa Bliss to win the NXT Tag Team Titles. Blue Pants being in the corner of The Vaudevillains drew a big reaction. When Bliss tried to interfere, Pants stopped her and that led to The Vaudevillains winning the titles using their Whirling Dervish combo move. Apollo Crews defeated Tye Dillinger in Crews' first televised match. It was a short match that Crews won clean with a standing moonsault. NXT GM William Regal announced a Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament that starts in two weeks and will end on October 7, which is the next Takeover event. He said they will make Dusty proud. The Tough Enough final four (Josh, ZZ, Amanda and Sara) were shown watching from the front row. Samoa Joe beat Baron Corbin with the Coquina Clutch submission when Corbin passed out from the pain. They went about ten minutes, so it was longer than the usual Corbin match. They showed Ric Flair, Sgt. Slaughter and Japanese women's wrestler Kana at ringside. Stephanie McMahon did a promo prior to the women's match to announce the attendance as 15,589 people and say the women were the the co-main event. Bayley defeated Sasha Banks by pinfall to win the NXT Women's Title. This was probably the match of the night and one of the best women's matches in WWE history. It was also one of the best WWE matches of the year. They really deserve a lot of praise for it and if you missed it, you need to check it out. It was nearly 20 minutes of great wrestling action. After the match was over, Charlotte and Becky Lynch celebrated with Bayley. Then Banks came back out they all celebrated in the ring because they are the four women that really made women's wrestling mean something in the last couple of years. Finn Balor defeated Kevin Owens in a Ladder Match to retain the NXT Title. They hit a lot of big spots and used ladders as weapons for much of the match. Towards the end of the match, Owens wanted to hit a cradle suplex off the ladder, but he wasn't able to. Soon after, Balor nailed the double foot stomp he calls the Coup de Grâce off the top of the ladder. Owens was out after that, so Balor climbed up to win. The show was excellent with babyfaces winning all six matches. The Brooklyn crowd was loud all night long. Another very successful NXT show for WWE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkn8XgWxJdA
