WWE Originally Wanted Finn Balor To Be Seth Rollins' New Tag Partner

Jason Jordan should count himself lucky.

Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan became unlikely WWE Raw Tag Team Champions earlier this week, but the former American Alpha man may not have been the company's first choice to fill the Dean Ambrose-shaped void in 'The Kingslayer's' life.

According to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Finn Balor, not Jordan, was originally pinpointed to take the injured Ambrose's spot. The duo would've then presumably defeated The Bar for the titles, with Balor playing the decisive role, much like Jason did on Monday night.

Meltzer also reports that Jordan's long-teased heel turn is still very much on the cards, and his mooted feud with Kurt Angle will be picked up whenever him and Rollins go their separate ways.

This latest snub compounds what has been a frustrating year for Balor. Originally slated to face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, he was pulled from the spot as Vince McMahon decided he wasn't over enough, and currently finds himself feuding with The Miztourage on Raw's lower-midcard. One of WWE's most popular stars he may be, but it doesn't look like Finn will be tasting the spotlight any time soon.
