WWE Plans For Cesaro's Future As A Babyface

One of the most interesting things in WWE since WrestleMania 30 is how they have booked the Swiss sensation Cesaro. It's obvious that management is high on the guy since they dumped the "Antonio" part of his name a couple of months ago and they had him win the inaugural Andre The Giant battle royal match at WrestleMania. The next night on Raw, they gave him the best manager in the business as he became a "Paul Heyman Guy." In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that even though WWE is keeping Cesaro a heel with Heyman as his manager, the plan is to turn him into a huge babyface. It would be similar to the way Daniel Bryan was booked when he was originally doing the "yes" thing as a heel and WWE realized he was gaining popularity, so they transitioned him into the face role. That wasn't really planned, but it happened and it worked. To WWE's credit, they know the fans want to cheer the guy. For several weeks now, they have handed out "Cesaro Section" signs on paper to the crowd. They hand them out to fans facing the hard camera and when it's time for his match, they hold them up. Wrestling fans are sheep a lot of the time. They do as they are told especially when they are told they're going to be on camera. Ever since Cesaro has been paired with Heyman they've also done something unique with him by not giving him a theme song. They don't want to use the Real Americans song since Colter & Swagger are continuing in that role and his old song would be a step back. Part of the reason to not give him a song is to annoy fans and make them wonder why he has no song. It makes him stand out. All of this could be leading to a Cesaro showdown with Brock Lesnar at some point within the next year. Obviously with Paul Heyman as his manager and Heyman's role as Lesnar's advocate, it will be an easy story to tell. Whether the match happens at SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania 31, it's nice to know that WWE thinks highly of Cesaro enough to give him a match with Lesnar in the future. Since Lesnar was the guy that beat Undertaker at WrestleMania 30, he has as much credibility as anybody in WWE. If Cesaro was to go over him it would be a way of elevating Cesaro to that next level.
