It's common knowledge by now that no, Pat Patterson didn't win a tournament in Rio de Janeiro to become the first ever WWF Intercontinental Champion. In the pre-internet age of 1979, it wasn't hard to make something like that up, and so Patterson was simply handed the belt behind the scenes.

Since then, the IC Title has flirted with a once-proud past, but all too often it's been treated like a throwaway prop rather than WWE's second most important singles prize. Thank God then for modern-day heroes like The Miz and Seth Rollins; between them, those two have brought the belt back from the brink and made it relevant once again.

They, along with record nine-time champ Chris Jericho, know the title better than almost anybody. The question is: how well do you know the Intercontinental gold's lineage?

Don't think that analysing this intro will gift you any answers. None of them are here, and the 10 questions on offer are deceptively tricky. There are no trick answers either, so don't worry too much about that. Just get thinking about IC history and see how many of these you get right.
