WWE have announced that this coming November, RAW and SmackDown will be taped from Scotland for the very first time. The SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow will play host to the tapings, taking place on November 7th and 8th respectively.

In many ways this is long overdue, as Scotland has something of a proud history and even prouder present when it comes to professional wrestling. Glasgow is also home to Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), the not-for-kids wrestling promotion that has gained considerable attention over the last few years thanks to appearances on BBC and VICE.

Whilst Scotland's most recognisable wrestling faces such as Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) and Grado currently ply their trade in TNA, this picture could be very different by the time November comes around. Failing that, maybe the Highlanders could reunite for one night only!

For Scottish WWE fans, this announcement is long overdue. Whilst usually a staple for the live events, the decision to tape TV in Glasgow is acknowledgement and appreciation from the company for some of its most passionate fans. The tapings will surely be a lot of fun as a result, if only to see if Big Damo turns up to wreck shop.

Tickets go on sale on Saturday, April 23rd from 9am.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
