WWE RAW Review 8/5/2013: 5 Things We Learned

wwe-raw-logo The WWE is gearing up for their final push towards arguably their 2nd biggest PPV of the year, SummerSlam. Following Monday night's extremely mixed RAW television broadcast, here are 5 things we learned as we inch ever closer to next Sunday's PPV:

5. Punk, Lesnar, and Paul Heyman Sell More PPV's

CM Punk CM Punk and Brock Lesnar are destined to tear the house down at Summerslam in less than two weeks. Everything they are putting together on a weekly basis has been fresh, compelling, and over the top. And that's just fine: with a program like this there is no such thing as "too much." So far, they have managed to escalate their conflict on every show, and held off on the payoff of Punk getting his hands on Heyman, and saved the even bigger payoff for the PPV, when Lesnar and Punk collide. Their bout at Summerslam could be a Match of the Year contender. This is the program build we should have had with Punk/Undertaker at Wrestlemania this year. Using Paul Bearer's death as storyline fodder ultimately did not work, and their program would have been much more interesting if it had been approached and executed like this build-up for Summerslam.
