WWE RAW Spoiler: Hall Of Famer Set To Appear

A former multiple time World Champion is headed to Pittsburgh.

WWE Hall of Famer "Nature Boy" Ric Flair is on his way to Pittsburgh, PA to appear during RAW on Monday evening, according to a report from Mike Johnson over at PWInsider. The last time that Flair appeared in front of the cameras for WWE was about one month ago, and his appearance this time again comes with no television promotion ahead of time. Considering the low television ratings that RAW has yielded of late, including its lowest viewership in 18 years last week, it's a head scratching decision to not announce ahead of time that arguably the greatest wrestler in history will be appearing on your show. With Flair coming on the show un-announced, it's not likely his appearance will pop the viewership number much at all this week. It's possible the company could promote his appearance on social media at some point during the day on Monday, though that kind of promotion in the past has failed to garner WWE much of a viewership increase. A good example is the October 19 edition of RAW, which featured an appearance by Steve Austin (as well as Flair). Austin's appearance wasn't announced until hours before the show, when WWE's social media accounts hyped up his appearance. The viewership needle didn't move at all, and that night's RAW actually became the lowest viewed RAW since 1997 (a record which has since been broken more than once by even lower numbers). Flair's appearance will likely come as part of the on-going story line between Charlotte and Paige. Flair mentioned on his podcast a couple of week's back that he was uncomfortable with the mentions of his late son Reid on RAW recently, so it will be interesting to see what route WWE takes with Ric's involvement in the story.
