Charlotte Flair is one of the most high profile female performers in WWE, serving as the centerpiece of Raw's women's division during the entirety of her stay on the Monday night roster following the brand split.

The five-time champion initially had trouble finding her footing on the main shows, struggling to find a persona that connected with the audience despite her solid ring work.

A heel turn and a run being seconded by her iconic father were the keys to Flair finally finding her groove, becoming the most effective character in the entire division. After dominating Raw to the point that the women's storylines were suffering from an arid tedium, the decision was made to send Charlotte to SmackDown in exchange for Alexa Bliss - one of the blue brand's top performers.

Immediately, WWE began the process of realigning SD's new addition as a face, pitting her against a ragtag faction of villains known as "The Welcoming Committee". Now it seems as if those in charge are having second thoughts about casting her as a white hat.

The Wrestling Observer has reported that certain company officials had been opposed to the babyface turn from the start and her actions on this past SmackDown are evidence of WWE potentially reversing course, returning her to the role she plays much more comfortably. In addition to that, Dave Meltzer speculated we may be heading toward an eventual feud featuring a heel Charlotte challenging the popular Naomi for her SmackDown women's championship.

After blurring the line as a tweener, it's possible Charlotte goes full heel again promptly following Backlash, making this a Big Show-level alignment shift. WWE is hopefully well aware of the damage constant persona changes can do to a performer, and one as talented as Charlotte should be booked to her strengths.

Thus far in her career she's proven to be far more effective as a heel, and a return to such would give us the potential for entertaining angles with the current champ as well as fan-favorite Becky Lynch.
