Edge and Liv Morgan were both scripted to reference WWE's recent firings on Raw.

Edge and Liv Morgan both made reference to WWE's latest wrestler releases on last night's episode of Raw, doing so to further feuds with The Miz and Becky Lynch respectively.

Edge's comment towards Miz came in a comeback segment for both men and Maryse. Appearing on Raw for the first time since joining the red brand in the 2021 WWE Draft, Edge put Miz over before cutting into him on the microphone, dropping the following barb on John Morrison's 18 November WWE release:-

"You use this to get notoriety for your next endeavour, for your next reality show, for your next dance competition, while you leave your partners high and dry to get fired."

Miz and Morrison were due to feud in August, with Morrison turning babyface and splitting from his partner after a series of frustrations, though their match and program was pulled when Miz departed to film the latest season of Dancing With The Stars. Morrison faded from prominence immediately, dropping consecutive Raw squashes to Omos and Karrion Kross before falling out of the Raw rotation prior to his release.

Later, Liv Morgan made Raw's second reference to the released wrestlers, doing so in a contract signing with Becky Lynch:-

"You're the reason why your friend is gone, just like your big, fat, greedy contract is the reason why my friends are gone."

The first part of that line references Charlotte Flair, whom Lynch had been feuding with in the lead up to Survivor Series 2021, drawing on real-life heat for the program. The second, meanwhile, is a clear nod towards the swathes of wrestlers trimmed from the WWE roster due to "budget cuts" over the past couple of years.

Morgan and Lynch will contest the latter's Raw Women's Title on next week's show.
