WWE news site Planeta Wrestling are reporting that the company are planning to tape a Latin American tournament for the Network this Summer.

The website claim that William Regal was impressed during his recent scouting trip to Chile at the tail-end of last year. They're also reporting that WWE's last trip to Chile packed out the Movistar Arena and the impassioned live crowd left a big impression on WWE officials.

If true, this Latin American special would follow on from other Network-only tournaments like the Cruiserweight Classic in the Summer of 2016, one to crown the first ever United Kingdom Champion in January, 2017 and the Mae Young Classic female tourney held last August.

Planeta report the tournament will encompass entrants from Chile, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil (and other countries) and will be held in Chile by the end of August.

Another note of interest is talk that WWE won't crown a new champion during the tournament. The winner apparently wouldn't even be offered a full-time contract with NXT.

Could this be the perfect spot for a returning Rey Mysterio? The legendary luchador looked fantastic at Royal Rumble and his star power would help promotion for sure.
