WWE And Rogers Announce TV Deal For WWE Network In Canada

WWE to finally bring the Network to Canada next month?

Screen Shot 2014 07 31 At 19 01 39 After years of valiant attempts, the WWE wasn't able to land their Network on cable or satellite programs throughout the United States, instead settling on a digital, subscription based service. This won't be the case north of the border, however, as the WWE and Rogers Communications have reached a landmark deal. Today, the WWE and Rogers announced a 10-year broadcast deal which will see Rogers become the exclusive distributor of the WWE Network through 2024. The service will begin on August 12, as the WWE Network will premier as a premium linear channel on the service. This deal makes Rogers the exclusive distribution partner for WWE pay-per-views throughout Canada. Other highlights from the new deal include national rights to Monday Night Raw, Smackdown and Main Event on Sportsnet 360, Rogers Anyplace TV, and Sportsnet NOW. When asked about the deal today, WWE chairman Vince McMahon said he was presented with an offer he simply could not refuse. The day has been somewhat of a roller coaster for the WWE, as their WWE subscription numbers fell well below expectations, yet with the announcement of the Rogers deal and pay-per-view revenue, their stock increased. Even though the company's stock has seen an uptick, mass layoffs are still rumored.
