WWE announced this weekend that January's Royal Rumble 2017 will be taking place from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

WWE revealed the news themselves at last night's live event from the arena.

A tickets pre-sale will kick-off on August 28th and last until September 3rd with the code LA2017.

All remaining tickets thereafter will go on sale to the general public on November 19th.

WWE Royal Rumble 2017 will be the first time the annual 30 man extravaganza has ever taken place in Los Angeles, though certainly not the first to have taken place in the state of California. Back in the 90s, it was a regular haunt for the Rumble event with the 1993 show (Sacramento), 1996 (Fresno), 1998 (San Jose) and 1999 (Anaheim) all taking place there but since the 2005 edition from Fresno, the Rumble has been California free.

Last night's WWE live event from the Staples Center saw Roman Reigns defeat Seth Rollins and AJ Styles in a three-way for the WWE title. Sami Zayn defeated Kevin Owens. Rusev successfully defended his US title in what has been described as a squash match by onlookers against Titus O'Neil. Dean Ambrose defeated Chris Jericho in a street fight. Natalya & Paige & Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch defeated the team of Charlotte, Dana Brooke, Eva Marie & Summer Rae in an 8 woman's tag match. The Club defeated The Lucha Dragons and Cesaro defeated Alberto Del Rio in the opener.
