WWE Rumours Spreading That Alberto Del Rio's Release Was A Work

WWE tweets about the incident in a way that leads credence to the rumour.

Alberto Del Rio€™s sudden and unexpected release is the news that has captivated the internet wrestling community since late Thursday. On August 7th, it was revealed through an official post on the WWE.com homepage that ADR had been released from the company. This news surprised most. Del Rio has been a relatively consistent top star since his debut. He€™s been pushed to the moon on a handful of occasions and, in his relatively short four-year stint, has held gold on four occasions -- a two-time WWE Champion and two-time World Heavyweight Champion. Many have found the wording of WWE€™s official statement on the matter odd. Del Rio was released due to €œunprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee.€ Shortly after the official announcement, rumors began swirling that said altercation took place at Tuesday€™s Smackdown television tapings. Supposedly, according to a small number of sources and dirt sheets, Del Rio slapped a member of the WWE.com and/or social media staff. Furthermore, it has been implied by some of these supposed sources that the altercation stemmed from a potentially racially-charged comment from the staffer toward Alberto. Del Rio€™s response was apparently the slap, which subsequently got him canned. Now, an even more bizarre turn has come about. On the evening of Friday, August 8th, the official WWE twitter account sent out the following tweets:
Those statements were then re-tweeted by Triple H. Interestingly, since the original story broke, there has been a small smattering amongst the internet wrestling community that this could all be a work. While that is very doubtful, these recent tweets could lend credence to that bold -- yet unlikely -- claim. On the other hand, if the altercation involved WWE€™s social media manager, the person behind these tweets could be the other party involved in the incident. However, it is very out of the ordinary for WWE -- the company itself or its higher-ups -- to focus so heavily on an incident of this nature. It€™s especially odd considering the less than amicable terms on which the separation occurred. Furthermore, the tweets have been added to the official statement on WWE€™s site. Let us know your thoughts on the situation in the comments below. Is WWE simply adding fuel to the fire and retaliating against Alberto Del Rio with one last cheap shot of their own? Or is there a chance there is something else going on here -- possibly an elaborate work?
