WWE Set To Release Owen Hart DVD And Documentary

Could WWE Hall of Fame induction be next?

Today would have been the 50th birthday of the late great Owen Hart. Sadly, Owen passed away due to an unfortunate accident in May 1999 at WWE's Over The Edge pay-per-view when he fell into the ring after the apparatus he was wearing did not unbuckle in a safe manner. Since that time, Owen hasn't been mentioned that much by WWE. His widow Martha Hart sued WWE as well as the rigging company for the accident and while Owen has been featured on some Hart Family DVDs, he hasn't been the subject of his own documentary. That is until now. According to a report from WrestlingDVDNews.com, WWE is planning on releasing a Blu-ray/DVD feature about Owen's life that includes a documentary. If you have seen other career DVD compilations then you know WWE does a great job with them. They usually run anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours. Apparently Martha Hart has agreed to support the making of the project, so we should expect to see it released later this year or early next year. Now that there's an Owen Hart DVD compilation in the works, the next logical question is does that mean he will be inducted into WWE's Hall of Fame? It's certainly possible. We have seen in the past few years that WWE has mended fences with the likes of Bret Hart, Bruno Sammartino, Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage, so perhaps this could lead to Martha giving the green light to Owen's induction in the Hall of Fame. Since Owen's brother Bret is on great terms with WWE and his niece Natalya works for the company, it would be awesome to see WWE pay tribute to one of their biggest stars of the 1990s. For now, let's consider this a step in the right direction. His death is arguably the most tragic thing that has ever happened in WWE because, quite frankly, they never should have tried that stunt. However, it would be nice if WWE fans were allowed to honor him the way he has deserved for so long with a DVD/documentary about his life and hopefully a Hall of Fame induction as well. We will update down the road on any news regarding this project as well as information about who may be involved with it.
