WWE Smackdown Review 21st October - Sin Cara Mask vs Mask!

Smackdown! October 21st 2011. We are in MEXICO CITY, MEXICO for Smackdown! And who better to join us first but Mexico€™s own WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio! And he gets himself a nice response as Michael Cole, Josh Matthews and Booker T welcome us to the show. Del Rio brings up his Last Man Standing match against John Cena. Then he says tonight€™s match against Big Show wont be happening after the attack from John Cena on Monday. Del Rio said it was his dream to come here and compete for Mexico but John Cena took it away, so this Sunday he will make Cena pay. And then, something in Spanish. I€™m not here to translate though so figure that out yourselves. Teddy Long lands out on stage. Teddy said the doctors say Del Rio is cleared to compete. Teddy asks the people if they want to see Del Rio vs. Big Show, which they obviously do. Teddy walks back up the ramp and passes Mark Henry on the way making HIS entrance. Mark Henry vs. John Morrison Pre match they show Henry destroying Morrison on Raw. Mexico has a lot of love for the Prince of Parkour. Does anyone else think it€™s a bit weird they€™re now putting the wrestlers Twitter tags underneath their entrance logo? Henry throws him out of the ring straight away and follows. Henry smushes John€™s head into the ring post, then throat first into the apron. Back in the ring Henry chin locks him. Morrison fights out but gets an elbow in the mouth. Henry charges in the corner, Morrison boots him. Vaults up top, flies off with a double stomp to Henry€™s back, barely hits him, but he gets the Chuck Kick which connects to Mark€™s face. Running knee to the face of Henry. He goes for Star ship Pain and he HITS it! One, Two, Kickout EASILY by Henry. Morrison goes to slide under Henry€™s legs but gets stomped on. Plus he kind of forgot to slide all the way. That or Henry forgot to move his leg. Henry picks him up, Drops him with the Worlds Strongest Slam and that€™s a three. Somewhere backstage, Christian is complaining about Spanish to Vickie Guerrero who fakes like she barely knows Spanish. She must know it right? She says she and Christian should have a business relationship. And they could even share stories about Edge. Christian complains that Teddy isn€™t giving him or the people what they want. Teddy says Christian is getting one more match. This Sunday against Sheamus. Teddy then tells Vickie that her boy Dolph will be defending this Sunday against Zack, making Dolph perform twice in one night. Ryder walks in and gives Vickie a €œWOO WOO WOO You know it.€ Vickie screams to fade. Now we get a video package for the upcoming Mask vs. Mask, Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara match. Wade Barrett vs. Daniel Bryan We also get a pre taped video of Wade Barrett from earlier today promising that hes learned from people leeching off him and he only needs himself to be successful. Daniel Bryan is not shaving his beard until Wrestlemania. The American Dragon is coming back. Barrett goes for Waste Land early but Bryan takes him down with Crucifix pin. Barrett kicks out, Bryan goes for the Lock. Barrett shoves him off and gets him with the Black Hole Slam. Two for Wade. Barrett chokes him in the ropes then charges and boots him all the way to the floor! Back in the ring, Barrett puts on a deep chin lock. Bryan fights back with a missile dropkick to the chin. He goes for a standing kick but Wade holds onto the ropes and boots him back down. Wade puts a knee to Bryan€™s back, who fights to his feet. Whip to the corner, Bryan back flips back over Wade, goes off the ropes and meets him with a STIFF forearm. Bryan gets pumped up and charges with his flying corner dropkick. Good for two. Barrett meets Bryan with a kick to the middle followed with a Pump Handle Slam. That forearm looks like it still hurts. Bryan flies off the top, Wade catches him easily and SLAMS him with Wasteland! One, Two, Three! Good match that, was a smooth finish. Looks like Barrett is on the rise, while I cant quite fathom the losing streak for a money in the bank winner. And Wade Barrett has a HUGE bump on his forehead from that stray forearm. Sheamus and Ryder vs. Christian and Dolph Dolph and Zack start it but Christian is tagged in. Michael Cole brings up GI Bro, Booker T is like €œForget about that.€ Christian throws Ryder outside allowing Dolph to clothesline him on the floor. Mexico loves Sheamus. Back in the ring Dolph dropkicks Ryder down. Ryder rolls Ziggler up for two but Ziggler drags him back to the corner. Christian charges Zack but meets a double knee and Sheamus gets tagged in as Booker T and Michael Cole are more preoccupied with each other and miss the hot tag. Thank god for Josh Matthews. Sheamus Irish Curse on Dolph for two. Calls for the Cross but Christian distracts. Dolph tries to sleeper Dolph but gets shrugged off. Sheamus turns around and turns Dolph inside out with the Brogue Kick! What a sell job from Dolph! One, Two, Three! During the commercial, Sheamus got SPEARED on the stage by Christian. Back live, Cody Rhodes is in the ring with a microphone, which is always good. He says he didn€™t just humiliate Orton, he exorcised a demon. Rhodes has a good laugh at what he did. Rhodes says that Orton inflicted him mentally years ago. The vipers venom contaminated his blood long ago in Legacy. He said his father taught him man is basically good, but hes wrong. Man is basically evil and selfish. He says Orton used and abused him and rewarded his loyalty with a punt to the skull. Cody says that this time their lives are intersecting but its he who has everything going for him, while Orton is an embarrassing megalomaniac with nothing new. He calls out Orton to come out and admit that he was wrong about Rhodes. Great stuff as usual from Cody Rhodes. Orton makes his way to the ring. No he doesn€™t he takes a mic on the stage. He says the only mistake he made was letting Cody get away with costing him the world title twice. Orton says the only thing that€™s changed is the amount of torture Cody is about to go through at Vengeance. Orton is almost at the ring now and wants a preview. But first he has to take out the baggers. This allows Cody to get in a boot and take Orton to the post. Rolls him in the ring, but Orton is fighting back. He dumps Rhodes over the top to the floor and gives one of the baggers the Hanging DDT. He takes Cody to the steps and tries to drive his head into them, but another bagger gets in the way. Rhodes runs while Orton stomps the guys head into the steps. One bagger left in the ring now so Orton levels him with the RKO as Rhodes backs away up the ramp. Mask vs. Mask, Botch vs. Botch, SIN CARA VS SIN CARA Commentators still haven€™t decided which Sin Cara came first. All I know is Blue is the face and Black did the entrance slightly better. Mexican fans give us a Mistico chant. Black is first in with boots. Blue gets a springboard Hurricanrana to the outside then follows up with a flying Cross Body to the floor. Back in the ring he gets another for two. Head scissors. He tries another springboard but this time Black meets him with a dropkick. Black tries to tear the mask off and again gets dumped to the floor. This must mean its ad break time. When we come back we€™re in the ring again and Black is connecting with a double arm back breaker for a two count. Blue gets another jumping Hurricanrana but this time gets immediately dropped again with a clothesline. Two Count for Black. He sticks Blue in a weird looking stretch hold which eventually turns into a Camel Clutch. Tilt a Whirl back breaker for another two. Body Slam across the knee gets him another. Black stretches him again. Blue fights back again, flies with a dropkick, Black side steps and sends him to the mat. Black goes to the mask again and tries to tear it off. Blue fights him off again. Black is in complete control until he tries a rolling senton in the corner and Blue moves. Blue gives him a rope walk arm drag then traps him in a pin out of a tilt a whirl reversal. Rolls him up again for another two. Blue goes off the ropes but Black catches him in a fireman carry and slams him down for two. Black goes up to the top, Blue charges and kicks him in the head. Franken Steiner from the top! Sin Cara Blue now goes up top and gets him with the Senton Bomb! One, Two, Kickout! Blue comes off the ropes with momentum, spins around Black and drops him into the arm bar and forces him to tap out! Sin Cara black now has to unmask. He turns and tries to leave without removing it. Blue goes after him and manages to get a boot in and remove the mask himself. He dropkicks him to the floor and gives him a suicide dive. Booker T €œAw man look at the face.€ Michael Cole €œWhat? Hes normal with a crew cut.€ Booker T really things hes hideous. Brodus Clay still works here, and he€™s coming back to get a push. Beth and Natalya are in the ring telling us they€™re not jealous at all. They€™re angry at the fans because that€™s what the fans want to see. So they show a video of them dominating Kelly and Alicia. Natalya says pain is beauty and nothing is more beautiful than watching Barbie Dolls beg for mercy. Beth tells Eve that at Vengeance its her turn to cry and she will scream like the rest. Eve interrupts. Divas music is not good interruption music. Eve has a mic too. She says she USED to think they were beautiful but they€™ve proven to be ugly on the inside. Eve clarifies that she is not a Barbie Doll. Well sure, Barbie wasn€™t Hispanic. They try and make Eve cry so she shoves Beth over and almost out of her dress. Eve runs out as Beth pretends to be embarrassed. Big Show is doing push ups! No way, that had to be a special effect. Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show Big Show goes right for the big chest slap. He dominates Del Rio in the early going and right up until Del Rio manages a hangman. He flies off the top but Big Show slaps him to the mat. After the break he throws Del Rio outside again. He goes out to follow but Del Rio kicks the steps into Shows knee. Back in the ring Big Show has stopped selling it already and slams Del Rio easily. Show puts him in a hold, and Alberto has to reach the ropes. Show leg drops him. Del Rio manages to floor him with a dropkick to the knee, and boots him in the face about a half dozen times every time he tries to get up. Big Show not down for long though takes the advantage back and shoulder charges. Calls for Choke Slam. He lifts him but Del Rio jumps through and chop blocks him. Puts Show into the Cross Arm Breaker! The move is on for a long time, but Big Show doesn€™t tap. Del Rio changes position, Big Show stands up and lifts Del Rio with him and slams him down. Big Show again goes for the Choke Slam but Ricardo jumps on him causing a disqualification finish. Big Show throws him off and DECKS him with the UMD Fist. And one for Del Rio. And here comes Mark Henry. He charges Big Show but gets KNOCKED OUT with the UMD. That looked beautiful. But if Big Show can do that so easily why doesn€™t he just start matches with it? Good episode of Smackdown this week with Wade Barrett vs. Daniel Bryan and Mask vs. Mask being definite in ring highlights. Cody Rhodes and Orton exchange on the mic was also great, and it looks like Vengeance could be a great event in terms of match quality.
