WWE Survivor Series 2002: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

Could it be the best Survivor Series ever?

The 2002 edition of WWE Survivor Series is one of the most memorable Survivor Series events because it took place in the world's most famous arena Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 17, 2002. It's a famous show because it was headlined by the first ever Elimination Chamber match in WWE history. Going into it we had no idea what the Elimination Chamber was going to look like. They had all these hype videos and descriptions of it, but until we saw it we really didn't know. The main event featured six men battling for Triple H's World Title with the main focus on the returning Shawn Michaels, who was wrestling in only his second match of the last four years. There were a lot of great things happening on the Smackdown brand at this time. It was when Paul Heyman was booking the shows and there were six guys known as the "Smackdown Six" that were having great matches. Those six guys were Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero and his nephew Chavo Guerrero. They had all kinds of matches together in singles as well as tags, so they did a triple threat elimination tag on this show that was highly anticipated. Brock Lesnar was the youngest WWE Champion ever at this point. He was defending the WWE Title against Big Show after beating the Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match at No Mercy. Most people figured he was going to retain against Show in order to have a long run. They were wrong. With Steve Austin gone because he was unhappy, The Rock filming movies and the likes of John Cena, Randy Orton & Batista not ready to make their mark yet, it was an interesting lineup that was a mix of veterans and young stars. Here's the full lineup from the PPV portion of the show that featured six matches. 1. Bubba Ray Dudley, Spike Dudley & Jeff Hardy d. 3-Minute Warning (Rosey and Jamal) & Rico in a 6-man Elimination Tables Match 2. Cruiserweight Title: Billy Kidman d. Jamie Noble 3. Women's Title: Victoria d. Trish Stratus in a Hardcore Match 4. WWE Title: Big Show d. Brock Lesnar 5. WWE Tag Titles: Eddie & Chavo Guerrero d. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit and Edge & Rey Mysterio 6. World Heavyweight Title Elimination Chamber Match: Shawn Michaels d. Triple H, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Kane & Chris Jericho We begin with the five awesome things and then ranking the five things that sucked.
