WWE star Bayley could be on the verge of turning heel for the first time in her career, according to Dave Meltzer.
The Wrestling Observer chief revealed this week that he has obtained details of the planned card for a live event at Madison Square Garden in March. One of the matches featured is an inter-gender tag team bout pitting real-life couple John Cena and Nikki Bella against Elias and Bayley.
While The Huggable One has been teaming with Elias over recent weeks as part of WWE's Mixed Match Challenge, she remains - for the time being - in the role of a baby-face. However, Meltzer has floated the possibility of a character shift to coincide with a potential storyline at WrestleMania.
Fans began to spot fault-lines in the on-screen friendship the 28-year-old shares with Sasha Banks as long ago as the summer, when they were both gunning for the Raw Women's Title. But it was widely expected that the latter, previously a heel during her NXT days, would be the one to stab her running mate in the back.
Bayley remains one of Raw's most marketable figures despite her detrimental booking, making any decision to this effect an inherently risky one. The damage done by her feud with Alexa Bliss last year, however, may require something radical to repair.
