WWE: Top 5 World Heavyweight Championship Reigns

In celebration of the 10th birthday of the World Heavyweight Championship!

The WWE is celebrating the 10th birthday of the World Heavyweight Championship. The Big One was not considered a continuation of the WCW Title or the NWA Championship, as it was introduced following Brock Lesnar€™s decision only to defend the Undisputed belt on SmackDown. Triple H was subsequently awarded the title on September 2nd 2002. The belt was defended on Raw until 2005, when Batista was transferred to SmackDown. When CM Punk cashed in his MITB opportunity and defeated Edge for the title in 2008, it was taken back to Raw. The title was swapped between the two brands until early 2009, when Edge beat John Cena in a Last Man Standing bout he took the belt to SmackDown, where it has remained ever since. Despite only being ten-years-old the World Heavyweight Championship has seen numerous classic moments occur when it has been defended. Shawn Michaels victory over Triple H in the first ever Elimination Chamber match at Survivor Series €™02 set the WWE audience alight, Chris Benoit€™s win at WrestleMania XX was one of the top WrestleMania matches, Batista ushered in a new era in 2005, the battles between CM Punk and Jeff Hardy showed an essence of truth in the storyline and Mark Henry proved the world wrong. So to celebrate the World Heavyweight Championship€™s tenth birthday, here€™s my list of the top five title reigns....
