WWE Unhappy With Mistakes During Divas Smackdown Match

There was a bizarre ending to a lengthy divas match on Smackdown this week.

WWE officials weren't happy with the mistakes that took place during the Divas Tag Team match on Smackdown this week, according to Wrestling Observer Radio. It started as a Charlotte vs. Naomi match that ended by disqualification when Sasha Banks interfered. That led to a tag match with Banks and Naomi teaming up against Charlotte and Becky Lynch in a contest that went about 14 minutes including the commercial. It was mentioned by Dave Meltzer that there were plans to make the match even longer and possibly give them another segment, which seems odd just because it was already a long match, they did two hot tag sequences and there was no need for them to go longer than that.

The finish was off because Naomi interrupted a pinfall attempt by Charlotte on Banks and then Naomi exchanged pinfalls with Charlotte even though Banks was still legal. Announcer Jerry Lawler was complaining about it right away, which was probably edited in after the show. It looked as though Naomi was waiting for Lynch to attack her to set up the finish, but that didn't happen. Why was referee Mike Chioda counting the Naomi pinfall attempts? He should have known better as a veteran official. After the finish where Naomi got a cradle on Charlotte for the pin, Naomi looked upset even though she won the match. She was yelling at Charlotte although that could be considered just a heel talking trash. A few moments later, Naomi started to celebrate the win. From a fan's perspective, it wasn't a bad match. It's one of those things that fans may not notice or care about too much, but WWE wants their talent to pull off the finishes they have designed for them. Here's a clip of highlights of the match including the finish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9COIQM_v9I
