WWE WrestleMania 29: Steve Austin vs CM Punk Match Update

WWE officials are still trying to figure out an opponent for CM Punk at next year's WrestleMania 29 event.

WWE officials are still trying to figure out an opponent for CM Punk at next year's WrestleMania 29 event. Whilst John Cena vs The Rock II and Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker look almost set in stone, there is no clear opponent for their current WWE Champion scheduled at this time. Punk has been telling WWE officials that his preferred choice is a match against WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin, but the fantasy contest looks as far away as it ever has today. The Rattlesnake hasn't wrestled in a serious WWE bout since his WrestleMania 19 match with The Rock and although he has recently said he would be interested in one more match, and indeed interested in wrestling Punk, he wants a good storyline going into it and would prefer Punk was a top heel as opposed to his current babyface persona. F4WOnline.com reports that the latest word on a possible Punk vs Austin match is it's "more likely a no than a yes". WWE wants to have all the top matches for next year's show already in place by August's WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.
