WWE Writing King Barrett Off Television

Why is WWE's "king" going home?

It wasn't a great week for King Barrett after losing at SummerSlam in a tag match and then being attacked by his SummerSlam partner, Stardust. He was hit with Stardust's finisher and rolled out of the ring because he's been written off television. Barrett mentioned on Twitter recently that he was filming a new WWE Studios film called "Eliminators" in September. Normally the filming of WWE movies takes about six weeks, so it's likely that he won't be back on WWE television for a few months. In other Barrett news, he also recently changed his Twitter display name to Stu Bennett, which is his real name. He also noted that he was headed to England. https://twitter.com/WadeBarrett/status/636276982515417088 The "King Barrett" gimmick didn't really work for him in part because he was booked so poorly. Why would WWE put the King of the Ring crown on him in late April only to book like a loser for the next few months? It seemed pretty pointless. In the past few months, there was apparently a directive to not call him "Wade" Barrett anymore although it happened once in a while. The Bad News Barrett name was pretty good for the short term, but they stopped letting him do the "I'm afraid I've got some bad news" promos and that hurt him as well. A break could be good for his career because it will give him a restart when he's back in a few months.
