Nikki Bella has confirmed that her long-term relationship with WWE Superstar and sort-of actor John Cena is "officially over." The announcement comes following the conclusion of Season Three of E!'s reality romp Total Bellas.

In an interview with People.com, Nikki said:

After I called off the engagement, we tried to work on our relationship to get back to where it was, and in order to move forward with our wedding. After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways

She further reflected that she spent six happy years with Cena, and reiterated that the split is amicable.

A rift between the pair first emerged in April, with their well-publicised wedding scheduled for May promptly scrapped. It wasn't clear whether the separation was legitimate or part of the ongoing charade designed to spike Total Bellas ratings. After all, Cena's 'official' proposal - subtly made in-ring at WrestleMania 33 before 75,000 people - wasn't the first time he'd popped the question, the repeat smartly engineered for maximum attention. The will-they-won't-they drama has continued throughout Total Bellas' third season, and it's only now it has finished that we've been given closure on the matter.

As per WWE's boiler-plate statements, WhatCulture.com wishes the newly single John and Nikki all the best in their future romantic endeavours.
