Shortly after WWE announced the departure of Emma earlier today, Lio Rush took to social media to voice his opinion on her exit, quipping that "these are the things that happen when you're not TRULY ready for @WWEAsuka." Regardless of the intention of the comment, it was undeniably in poor taste, and has left many of Rush's new colleagues bemused at his apparent lack of professionalism.

Within a matter of hours, the incendiary tweet had drawn several hundred responses, forcing the NXT rookie to remove it and issue the following apology:

Amongst those voicing their disapproval at the unfortunate tweet were colleagues Peyton Royce and Bray Wyatt - who rarely makes social media posts out of character - as well as fellow industry professionals Sean Waltman and Ricochet.

The talented Lio Rush only made his NXT bow this past July, yet this social media meltdown could already see him in hot water despite his impressive early showings. It's possible Rush was meaning to promote his company and Asuka in 'kayfabe' terms with the tweet, but whatever the explanation it was misguided, betraying a significant naivety on the part of the 22 year-old.

WWE rarely look kindly on talent drawing such a degree of public ire, so hopefully his mistake won't cost him too dearly.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
