6. How Will Superman Return?

Perhaps the most surprising moment of Dawn Of Justice was Superman’s demise at the hands of Doomsday. Sure, Warner Bros tried for years to make a version of that story, but for one reason or another it always fell apart. Besides, it felt a little early to kill him off considering it was only his second DCU appearance, but it shows they're willing to subvert expectations.

That said he's still Superman, so he’s obviously not going to stay dead long; there’s money to be made. The brief shot of floating dirt above his coffin in BVS already teased he’s just taking a long nap following his Doomsday fight, so the question is how will the movie bring him back?

It could be like his comic resurrection – where his body is stolen and placed in a regeneration machine in the Fortress Of Solitude – but the exact events that lead to this are too convoluted for a movie. Other solutions like the Codex and Mother Boxes have been suggested by fans, but for now this remains one of the big questions surrounding the story.
