7. Hawkeye's Pointless Cameo - Thor

Hawkeye is undoubtedly the coolest avenger, with his trusty bow and arrow, and stylish array of sleeveless black t-shirts. Despite this, he didn’t get a lot to do in The Avengers, since he’s brainwashed by Loki from the start.

At least he served a function there, which is in stark contrast to his cameo in Thor. Presumably, Marvel had just hired Renner for the part and was keen to shoehorn him into the film somehow, but his brief appearance is staggeringly pointless. He shows up during the scene where Thor tries to retrieve his hammer, points his arrow at him and makes a few quippy comments; end scene.

So instead of giving him an action scene or something cool or memorable to do, they decided the best way to introduce the future Avenger was sticking him in a crane and doing absolutely nothing of value. Fans may have liked seeing him onscreen, but they would have liked it better if he'd done something - anything - of value.
