MCU: 15 Marvel Movie Moments That Pissed Off Every Fan

6. Crossbones Wasted - Captain America: Civil War

In an alternate universe, Frank Grillo would have made an awesome Frank Castle / Punisher, a vibe that he pulled off with his role in The Purge: Anarchy. When it came time to cast that role Grillo had already signed on for Brock Rumlow in The Winter Soldier, who even without a super power feels like he could convincingly hold up in a fight with Cap.

His scarring in the climax confirmed he’d transform into the villainous Crossbones for the sequel, and seek revenge. In the Civil War comic it’s actually Crossbones who kills Steve Rogers, so his presence in the story promised to be intense. It’s such a pity his role amounts to little more than a plot McGuffin. He appears in the opening, has a quick fight scene and then blows himself up.

While this scene sets up a major part of the story, it’s a tragic waste of a great actor and potentially awesome villain.
