4. Mystique Will Be Revealed As Nightcrawler's Mother
One rumour that is especially compelling is that Mystique will be shown to be Nightcrawler's mother in Apocalypse. Not only that, but Sebastian Shaw's henchman from First Class, Azazel, will be confirmed as the father, just as he is in the comics. This emotionally fraught storyline promises to deliver a huge payoff and so may prove irresistible to Singer. Since Simon Kinberg has indicated that several scenes will focus on the damaged romantic relationship between Beast and Mystique, it's fair to guess that Raven having a child by another man might well be the cause of Hank McCoy's heartbreak. If, as seems likely, Nightcrawler (played by Kodi Smit-McPhee) was given up for adoption as a baby, he won't know he's Mystique's son. And if he truly doesn't know, that missing piece of information could lead to some very strained conversations between Kurt Wagner and his biological mother in Apocalypse. That tense situation is sure to make for must-see drama because, let's face it, audiences won't be able to tear their eyes away from any mother-son dynamic that's that much of a train wreck.
