We also saw the biggest EVER Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Orlando Resort, providing horror fans with more spookish delights than ever before.

With brand new parks on the horizon, expansions to already popular lands in Japan and a Fast & Furious coaster arriving in Universal Studios Hollywood soon, it's never been a more exciting time to be a fan.

10. Mardi Gras Is Almost Here

Party season is about to arrive at Universal Orlando Resort with the return of Universal Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval. The celebration brings live music into the Universal Studios Florida with the latest installment of colourful parade and mouth-watering foods from around the world.

The festival event brings big name acts for free to all its park guests with the likes of Queen Latifah, DJ Khaled and Barenaked Ladies being just some of the exciting names lined up to play on select nights.

Each year Mardi Gras brings a real party atmosphere to the park with a nightly parade with over-the-top, colourful floats and a stunning array of performers, with this year's theme being "Elements."

Similar to celebrations in New Orleans, lucky guests are able to secure a spot onboard the floats to throw colourful beads to the crowds below with a carnival themed soundtrack!

It just wouldn't be a festival without food and drinks with delightful treats inspired by various Mardi Gras events from around the world. This year that includes Chilaquiles verdes from Mexico, schnitzel from Germany and of course beignets from New Orleans. We always love the food available at Universal's Mardi Gras and think it has a great selection for those who want to try something new or gulf down some old favourites.

Universal Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval is a seasonal event that guests can enjoy for no extra cost. All you need is park entry.

This year's Mardi Gras Festival is set to run between 3rd February and 7th April.
