The young Belgian international has just enjoyed a remarkable debut season in the Premier League following last summer's switch from Genk, and finished as the division's fourth-highest goalscorer with 19 league goals, putting him ahead of the likes of Michu, Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney. Though Villa would evidently be reluctant to sell a player they have had on their books for less than 12 months, the player himself recently suggested he could be tempted by a move away from Villa Park, saying:
"If Aston Villa say I must stay, I won't necessarily accept that. I do not in any way want to feel I didn't get the most out of my career."
When he signed for Villa, he thought the club were based in London and in November said "Arsenal are the club I love". And if that isn't enough to form a transfer rumour, we don't know what is. Though it remains to be seen if the Gunners' interest in the player is serious, it would seem the player at least is keen on a move to the Emirates this summer.
