He's quick, he's athletic, he's a product of the excellent Ipswich Academy and he's exactly the kind of signing Newcastle have been making for the past 15 years. Or the kind they were making before Sir Bobby Robson was sacked at least. The simple fact is, Mings will stay at Ipswich and continue to grow in profile, adding zeroes to his value, especially if Ipswich do deliver on their unlikely Premier League prospects. At that point, he'll go to somewhere "bigger" or with more money to play with, and Newcastle will once again look like they've missed out on a sure thing at a low price.
