Newcastle Transfers: 5 Signings Magpies Need For Top 6 Finish

By James Kent /

5. Vincent Aboubakar

Who Scored data certainly shows that Newcastle has done well in a number of areas this season. However, the attacking record isn€™t something to write home about with 29 goals scored from their 20 games. Although, some may feel that they are still doing alright to compete; it€™s an attacking record that Everton, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City have all bettered. Furthermore, there is perhaps a concern that there is an over-reliance on Loic Remy. The French striker has scored 10 of those 29 goals, meaning he is responsible for 34% of the team€™s goals; he has also laid on another two from assists this season. The issue is further complicated by the fact that Remy is only on loan, and may very well not be at the club next season. Therefore, manager Alan Pardew would be well advised to add another quality striker to his ranks. Obviously, I€™m not privy to knowing Newcastle€™s budget €“ but I€™m assuming it€™s minimal since they did little business in the summer. So, with all that in mind, they might like to consider taking a gamble on a player that could prove to be hugely successful. Vincent Aboubakar is a player that is doing the business in France this season, and could be a natural fit for the club due to the number of French players they already have. The player hails from Cameroon, and at 21 years of age would be a risk. However, he is also the scorer of 11 league goals from 19 games, and currently plays for FC Lorient who aren€™t the biggest club in the world.
