There is fresh speculation around at the moment that PSG will again come in for Yohan Cabaye with a possible £22m offer in the pipeline. Therefore, it stands to reason that the club might look to Ligue 1 again for a replacement. Obviously, Cabaye is a great player and it will be hard for them to replace him with one player. However, versatile central midfielder Clement Grenier looks like an interesting option to me. Like Cabaye, he is one that can play as an attacking midfielder or a more orthodox central midfielder. One of his big benefits is age, since he is only 22. His young age doesnt mean that he is inexperienced as he has already made over 70 league appearances for current club Lyon and also won three caps for France. His current team are currently struggling in the league, which in my opinion might open the door to Newcastle making a bid. The Magpies rely on Cabaye a great deal for goals and taking shots on; there is no question that Grenier is considerably rawer, but he seems to have similar qualities in his locker. The player has scored three goals and provided four assists within his 16 league appearances this season; he also averages 2.6 shots per match, which is certainly encouraging.
