10 Lost Doctor Who Episodes We'll Never See

3. The Celestial Toymaker

An iconic episode of the 1960s, the Celestial Toymaker was the serial that was originally intended to see William Hartnell written out of the series and replaced with a new actor. However, currently only the finale of the four-part serial is in the BBC’s archive.

Played brilliantly by Michael Gogh, the Toymaker is one villain who we definitely should have seen again in the series. He seemed a perfect foe to go up against Hartnell’s Doctor, and arguably was one of his most iconic.

Like the last two entries, this serial has still not yet been animated. But surely it is only time before they get around to animating more Hartnell stories. The irritating part of this is the fact that only the finale survives, so the experience could feel disjointed. This serial was said to be so impressive by those who witnessed it, that it is another shame to see it lost.
