The Problem Its too similar to Doctor Who And The Silurians. The Hungry Earth had a relatively original story with the plot point of being people sucked into the ground and the gradually paced base-under-siege plot. But apart from a few minor elements and the general styling, the plot of Cold Blood is the same as Doctor Who And The Silurians. Human activity wakes up the Silurians, the Doctor tries to make peace, but people on both sides want to incite a war. Those familiar with Classic Who will have seen it all before. How To Fix It Take the story in a more original direction. At this point there had only been two Silurian stories over the space of just under forty years so there was plenty of new ground to cover. It doesnt feel like much of a modernisation of the Silurians if its a retread of a story done forty years ago. Even if it was just a case of one side being purely antagonistic and the others being the victims defending themselves, it would still be a slightly different case of affairs than whats already been done.
